I have been browsing for a alarm system for 10 days now and I finally stumbled into one that seems to fit my apartment, my husband and kids and our lifestyle.

We searched plenty of different alarm companies to find the least expensive choice as opposed to the most high-priced pick. I must say, that I was sad with most of the websites we saw at but one stood out above all the others and that was http://www.familyhomesecurity.com. Their monitoring data was rare, eye opening and edifying. I wish they were a company that installed security systems themselves because I know it would be done smartly and with a lot of care to detail.

What made it a strong experience? Well, we received a break-in 15 weeks ago that wasn’t very fun. As Luck Would Have It, we were outside of town and they solely got jewellery and money. Now there are babies in the household and a plenty more valuable stuff like computing devices, electronics, and above all – family and family memories and photos. We simply sought to find the optimal alarm system that we could all apply and feel secure with. It was decidedly time to get one this day.

So, how did I discover the correct security system? We originated by seeking ‘home security systems’ on the search engines, then surfed through all of the web sites on the starting page. A mass of them were trash…and I was negative about that. Everybody I recognize says Yahoo is the freshest…in any event, aft looking over those sites we couldn’t find what we were looking for. We don’t wish a trying sales procedure and we didn’t want to guess lots about it. Almost all of these sites were annoying sales pitches – I wanted information!

Some of the corporations we studied were Pinnacle, ADT, APX and GE. Most of them seem to utilise similar protection systems…and we at long last finished up with a Pinnacle Security system after using the healthy data found at homesecurityguru and familyhomesecurity.com.

It’s nice to find tremendous informative sites out there on the subject of security systems.

Until next time!

Ask your commercial roofing contractor these 7 questions before you get a quote:

1. Which roofing system is best for our climate and building needs?

It is estimated that defective design & engineering is responsible for nearly 50% of all roofing failures. Critical consideration must be given to drainage, windage, insulation, fire resistance, thermal expansion, tensile strength, puncture resistance, and watertight performance. Certain roofing systems might not work for your building type or location.

2. Is tearing off the entire roof necessary?

Eliminating waste can help the environment and your budget when re-roofing. Several types of roofing systems can be installed over your existing roof.

3. Can the new roof system help maintain temperatures inside the building?

Cool roofing systems, green roofing systems, and solar-integrated roof systems can help moderate indoor air temperatures, even if your building doesn’t have air conditioning. Lower energy costs can help offset the costs of a new roof.

4. What is the length of the warranty?

Be certain to find out the length of the warranty. Clarify what the warranty covers, up to and including installation defects.. Sometimes warranties have exclusions and fees for things like ponding water and additional damage that may have been caused.

5. Is the roofing system Energy Star Compliant?

A client can find the minimum requirements for reflectance and emittance at the government’s Energy Star Website.Initial reflectance must be at least 65%. After 3-years of exposure to weathering, it must have a minimum reflectance of 50%. In addition to the Energy Star website, you can visit the Cool Roof Rating Council Website for ratings of various roofing systems for solar reflectance. Armed with this information, you’ll understand the energy efficiency expectations of your roofing system.

6. Can the right roofing system choice make me eligible for Federal tax breaks?

It sure can if it meets the ASHRAE 90.1 standard. The minimum requirements for energy efficient building design (standard 90.1) were established by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers. The federal government adopted this standard in 1994. At a minimum, solar reflectance should be 70% and solar emittance should be 75% for government facilities.

7. Does the roofing materials manufacturer have a recycling program?

Several manufacturers have created recycling programs to collect materials once the roofing system and reached the end of its useful life. You would be surprised at the types of products that are created from old, worn-out roofing materials. As an example, you find creations like park benches, roadways, flooring, and even new roofing systems come from recycled roofs.

A newcomer to the world of investments in the notion of “Virtual Real Estate Investing“. Everything from using the internet as an avenue to make more money in real estate to online games such as SecondLife seem to be included in the popular definition of this term.

To find out the real story, I had a conversation with Bryan Ellis of BryanEllis.com, widely considered to be one of the originators of the concept of Virtual Real Estate Investing.

“I began using the term ‘virtual real estate investing’ in the late 1990’s when I realized the clear similiarities in profit strategies, regardless of whether the “real estate” is “virtual” or “physical” said Ellis.

Bryan Ellis cites the similar strategies one can employe to make money from “virtual property” and “physical property” as a primary parallel of the two markets. “There’s a huge difference between a website and a piece of real estate, but the ways you can profit from them are similar: ‘flipping’, rental/leasing, advertising sales, etc…all of these apply to both markets” he states.

The parallels really are obvious. Consider this: If you own a piece of real estate in a desirable neighborhood, your real estate has value because other people are interested in that location. Likewise, if you own a desirable domain name, others will find value in it because it serves their purposes. In either case, you could sell or lease the asset and turn it into cash.

In our next installment of this series on virtual real estate investing, Bryan Ellis will share the internet analogies to the physical concept of real estate development.

Property Index sell a range of villas and apartments, take a look at their site if you are looking for overseas property investment, click here to view the properties.

Although the Property Index online service is actually a pretty young house, (they were incorporated only in March of 2007), they have become experts very quickly. Actually, they are a pretty incomplex house concentrated on catering to anyone proposing to rent, buy, sell or let property across the globe. They pledge to aid you find bang-on what you need quick and, furthermore, painlessly. Property can be found everwhere currently, unquestionably the swankiest area being real estate on the market in Spain. It should be simply to list some of the superb property you can purchase in Spain, the reason for looking into property here is real estate on the market and the opportunity of being able to live amongst such a great and keen population.

It’s one of the most trendy markets currently, and in view of the lovely landscape and the agreeable climate surrounding you here, how could you ever go wrong! Property in Spain is steeped in history, this part of the world has been and is still home to numerous indigenous civilizations. Just 25-30 years back there’d be merely a tiny number of English looking for property in Spain. Just ask any one single person who has chosen to relocate to Spain and they will substantiate it. Most people would describe it as a momentary fashion and others describe it as a near to a compulsion… People who will actually transfer to this region will typically range from young working couples looking for a life perspective to senior citizens intending to enjoy life.

Do bear in mind, though, that there may be problems when looking to acquire property abroad; expectably there are hundreds of different, pretty complex, procedures when brainstorming, inspecting or signing up. If you only miss a single action it could well bring about broad problems plus, of course, even more importantly, a financial hammering. Obviously, as is to be assumed with this fashionable location, property might be fairly costly in this location which is just because of the steep market pressure. Nevertheless the patron is presently very spoiled in a location so great in terms of beaming land and good view. Indeed it offers practically everything a real estate buyer may hunger for and lots more.

What separates the men from the boys in business management? Well, during the 2005 Atlantic tropical hurricane season we saw many large corporations and even small businesses in their local communities rise to the occasion and they had managers and strong teams in place to handle a crisis. It is easy to tell Wall Street that the unfortunate hurricane dampened your sales during that quarter. But it is a wise company whose business management sticks together, works together and manages the crisis correctly.

It is not every day that you find a business management team, which can handle such crisis as large category hurricanes. However, in the 2006 Atlantic tropical hurricane season it is expected to be a big one and we will see winners and losers in the marketplace due to mother nature’s wrath. Is your business management team ready for the 2006 Atlantic tropical hurricane season or are you betting on the Donald Trump “Blame Game” Apprentices TV Series style excuse tactics to explain your underperformance to Wall Street?

Whereas mother nature makes the weather it is up to a strong management team in each business to make a profit and that means planning in advance, having a strong supply chain and been prepared for anything including the crisis that mother nature brings when she brings us these Super Storm category hurricanes. Consider all listen 2006.

But more importantly, watch what they do. If you do much online shopping, you’re sure to have seen some great, and not so great, sales letters urging you to get that oh-so-fabulous product that will solve all your problems right now.

Some of those letters probably make you want to whip out that credit card from the moment you start reading. Others — well your card never sees the light of day.

But that’s okay. Use it as a lesson for your business. You can learn how to create a good sales letter by studying both the good and the not so good. Next time you’re tempted to buy something as a result of a sales letter, don’t just purchase the item. Print out a copy of the sales letter and study it.

Identify exactly what it was about the letter that tugged at you to whip out your credit card. And do the same thing with soggy sales letters too. Figure out what it was that made you hesitate to buy.

Mark up the printed version to see where it was strong and really pulled on your wallet. Make a note of the words and phrases that had the most power.

Take those nuggets of wisdom you discovered and apply them to your next sales letter. I guarantee you it will be better than the last one you wrote.

You may not realize the opportunity that you have for a good nights sleep in the hospital. The hospital bed is comfortable and relaxing. It is something that you wouldn’t think would be such a good experience, would you? The fact is that there are many people that prefer these beds because of the support that they offer. If you sleep in a bed that is old, worn, or even worse, too soft, you can do a number of things to your body that are anything but comfortable.

Of course, you can’t really take the hospital bed home, can you? There are several models of adjustable beds that you can, though. These range in quality, comfort, support and price. Consider this when looking to purchase one.

• What is the benefit of this bed over others? Many will claim to be the best product for you, but ask why that is.

• Find out what quality materials are used. Not sure about that? Then, find out if the bed has a warranty. The better the quality of materials used, the better the warranty will be. Don’t buy one of these beds without some sort of guarantee on their motors or mechanisms.

• Think about your comfort. What makes you comfortable and how can you gain that from the bed you are looking at now?

• Compare several adjustable beds and companies. Each one will have something different to offer or a different marketing plan for you. You need to sort through the information to get to the bottom line of who is offer a better quality bed.

• You should always look for quality over price, but there is little doubt that you’ll want a great price as well. By taking the time to compare options, you are sure to find adjustable beds that offer both quality and affordable pricing.

By doing these things, you will find that you can take the hospital bed home with you!

As the price of fuel continue to rise, many of us are hoping for divine intervention. Some homeowners however are exploring the installation of the solar power equipment that will allow them to exploit the energy of the sun to provide energy for their premises.

When fuel prices were low, it was often difficult to justify the upfront cost of cash required to install photovoltaic equipment, solar water heaters and similar equipment. The reason was simple to understand – it would simply take too long to recoup the cost of the equipment in the form of lower energy bills.

Things have changed though. As energy prices continue to go up, the amount of time required to recoup the upfront cost goes down. In addition, a number of state and local tax incentives make it even easier for homeowners to go solar and save money right away.

Photovoltaic systems have also come a long way. The costs of installing solar panels is still high, with a typical two kilowatt installation of solar panels from OVR Solar Panels costing around £10,000 / ($20, 000) in most cases, but special tax incentives and long term energy savings can help homeowners recoup those upfront costs faster than ever before.

Governments around the world are increasingly willing to help. This tax savings can help eligible homeowners recoup some of the costs of installing solar panels and solar water heating systems up front, in addition to the energy savings they will enjoy down the road.

Any homeowner considering the installation of a solar system should be sure to check with his or her state and city to determine what types of tax breaks are available. It’s sensible to look into what help your local authorities are willing to provide. Just Google it to find out what help is available to you.

Breakeven point for your outlay may seem far away at today’s prices – but what about at tomorrow’s?. However, as the prices for heating oil, gas and other forms of traditional energy continue to soar, demand for solar installations will mirror this growth.

Take the first step to energy self sufficiency with OVR Solar.

I was over at a friend’s house the other day and on his computer he showed me his own house as viewed by a satellite in Earth’s orbit. It was awesome. The screen started out looking at our great blue planet, then he typed in his house’s address (he had programmed it in, as only the USA, UK, and Canada have the ability to find an address automatically so far) and the planet turned to our country. Then it zoomed in further and further until we could see the roof of his house! My genetic father (mother has been married thrice) lives in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, so I typed in his address, the world shifted around, zoomed in, and all of a sudden I could see the roof of his house, the swimming pool in the backyard, driveway and street, trees etc. It was a real mind-blower. One of the best things about www.google.earth.com is that we can now look at real photographs of any part of the world: pyramids in Egypt, Shanghai city, beaches in Jamaica, you can go and look at any place on the globe. All you need to do is point and click your computer’s mouse on any spot (address unnecessary), and it’s free.

I eventually found my own house (it will be much easier when the whole world has been mapped by street names on the free downloadable version) and I think that the 20$ version has a GPS (Global positioning system) which must make finding things a lot easier. You can also get directions to local areas such as restaurants, parks, hospitals, schools and hotels. The idea is to combine Google’s search abilities with imagery and mapping and I think it has great ramifications for the future of location information. You can then save and share your location searches with your friends and colleagues as well as adding your own data, as in my friend’s case. Google Earth’s users have already saved thousands of personal data points for you to look at and add to: EG: Show people where your business is located.

Another neat aspect of the technology is that you can tilt and rotate the satellite’s view to give you a more 3-D perspective on buildings, mountains and landmarks on the terrain. Many people have asked me if the photos are real time and if you run out front of your house will you see yourself? We would need a lot of satellites out in orbit if we hoped to have this kind of ‘Big Brother’ capability and I’m sure ethical questions would also be raised.

If you are looking for directions the program will actually drive or fly you on the best route to get where you are going. The website has photos of ten of the most popular ‘destinations’ so you can check out the quality of the high-resolution photos. With the ‘Measure’ tool you can see how far it is to the local airport or from Paris to London. With the ‘Pro’ version at $200 (there are three versions) you can also measure area, radius, and perimeter, which can have many applications in professional situations. There are also different layers of mapping information you can click on so all the volcanoes or golf courses will come up automatically if they are what you choose to see in a specific area. If you are searching for places to dine, when a restaurant comes up on the screen you can click on ‘more’ and information such as hours of operation, menus, reviews, and links to the business website become available.

Pretty cool huh! The only problem you may have is that your computer may not be powerful enough to handle the software or 3-D graphics capability. You also miss out if you own a Macintosh, as a compatible version hasn’t been built for them yet. Don’t take my word for it, go to the site and check it out. You may find that it has applications that could change the face of your business as well as the way you look at traversing our world, not to mention the ease to which you will be able to locate pizzas anywhere on Earth.

You see a ‘beautiful’ tan and your immediate thought might be that it is healthy looking, however that tanned look is actually your skin’s response to the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation. Ultraviolet rays from the sun penetrate into the upper layers of unprotected skin, quickly damaging skin cells even before you start showing any signs of sunburn or tan. That “healthy glow” is caused by the release of enzymes by your skin’s defense mechanism, in an attempt to repair the damaged cells – basically your body’s ‘cry for help’. The intense redness of over-exposed, sunburned skin, is due to the increased blood flow caused by the release of chemicals or enzymes by the damaged skin. Over time, your body’s repair efforts may end up leading to skin cancer.

Skin cancer is basic term for several different forms of cancer. Basal cell carcinoma , is the most common form of skin cancer and usually affects the face, ears, neck, scalp, shoulders and back. This type of cancer does not generally spread to other parts of the body. Squamous cell carcinoma, is the second most common form of skin cancer and usually affects the face, neck, hands, ears, lips, shoulders, arms, back and bald scalps. This type of cancer does have the ability to spread more often than basal cell. Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer and the least common form, however the number of melanoma cases over the past ten years has increased more than any other form of cancer. It can spread quickly if not treated early.

Following are a few interesting facts to consider the next time you are thinking of bathing your skin in the sun’s rays. One blistering sunburn as youngster more than doubles a person’s chance of developing skin cancer later in life. The regular use of sun protection throughout childhood can reduce the risk of skin cancer by 80%. Over 90% of all skin cancers are caused by sun exposure, however less than 33% of adults, teens and children routinely use sunscreen and less than half of all teens. If that doesn’t make you think, here’s one more: The aging affects on your skin caused by the sun can be seen by the time you are in your 20’s!

Lisa T. has lived in South Florida for over 20 years, having personal experiences on this subject and presents a website on sun protection at BlocktheRays.com and additional info on her
Blog.
